"You're taking your near-murder well, I see," said Lestrade, laughing incredulously yet still half serious.

Dismissive, Holmes waved his left hand but kept his bandaged right tucked close.

"It was nothing Doctor Watson and I could not handle."

Sounds just like him. He's not one to worry overmuch about his own safety if it means solving a puzzle. Self-satisfied indeed, yet generous enough to acknowledge Watson's help. Very nice. :D

Ah, I'm glad you liked it. Seems like he was pretty pleased with how everything turned out, so I thought he'd be a bit proud in his way about it. Very happy to hear it was nicely in character! I try hard at that.
