Wow. It's pretty amazing to say that we are at the end of our first 60 week trip through the ACD canon here at [livejournal.com profile] sherlock60. Sixty straight weeks of reading and writing about extraordinary literature and the origins of two of history's most indelible characters, one story at a time.

It. Has. Been. Amazing!

I want to thank and credit each and every one of you who posted, everyone who commented, everyone who read. Whether you were here for one week or 60 (but especially 60!), thank you for being with us -- we have such a terrific and creative community, and you're all the reason for that!

A special thank you has to go to [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b, who came up with this crazy idea with me over a year ago, and has been here every week since then with amazing fic. This wonderful place wouldn't exist without her, so give her a special round of applause!

On a personal note, it has been my real pleasure to spend these last sixty weeks with you all. Every week, no matter what, I have had this community to look forward to, my friends and our fiction. It's been a true joy, and I can't thank you all enough. Here's to another 60 weeks together! Onward to more Sherlock Holmes canon!

So let's talk about the plan for our next 60 weeks and 60 stories. For the most part, everything is staying the same. Read a story, write 60 words, post. Simple as that. But there are a few changes you should be aware of:

This time through, we're switching to chronological order based on Baring-Gould's chronology. This should be terrific, to move through time with the characters each week. I'm very excited about this! You can find the schedule on the comm profile. We're starting next week with the Sherlock Holmes story set the furthest back in time: The Gloria Scott. Please note: this new schedule currently means we'll be reading three of the novels in the month of December. Ouch. We can subdivide the novels and spread them out over a couple of weeks or even take a few weeks off if need be. Let me know what you think.

In addition, I'll be posting two completely optional prompt items for each week. They could include a word, a picture, a genre, a writing format, a point of view, etc. Just two random little prompt items. You can use both, one, or none of them at all. It's totally your choice. Should be a fun little addition to help grease the muse wheels a little bit.

And we'll be watching and discussing the fabulous Granada episodes along with the 60s, which I am thrilled for. They're available on DVD, Netflix, and free on YouTube. If you haven't seen these before, don't miss them! Jeremy Brett for many simply is Holmes, and he has two of the best Watsons ever in David Burke and Edward Hardwicke. Our first episode will be The Musgrave Ritual in two weeks. Join us here for that too!
