Character(s): Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson
Summary: Holmes smoked out more than the missing suspect.
Warnings: Some minor spoilers for GOLD.
Word Count: 60, inspired by a quote from the original story in italic text.
Author's Notes: 60 words of my own inspired by one of the canon stories.
Disclaimer: I don't own them.

GOLD – Smoked Out
Holmes was curiously distrait, and we walked up and down the garden path for some time in silence.

I felt Watson’s hands supporting me as I was noisily sick behind a convenient clump of plants.

“I assume you had a good reason for smoking so many cigarettes in so short a time, besides making yourself ill.” The words were tart, but his touch was tender, caring.

I nodded, beyond words.

Watson sighed. “The things we do for justice.”

Windows to the Soul

They say the eyes are windows to the soul. Hers had always been imperfect, but the vision she found within herself was clear enough to carry her through 20 years of suffering and still guide her unwavering toward her goal to win her brother's freedom.

I would take the papers to the Embassy tomorrow and so fulfill her life's purpose.

A/N: Yeah, I wrote the first one and then I couldn't resist adding the second.

As I slowly re-emerged from the fifteenth century I found my eyes drawn towards Watson as he stood by the window. How well he looked restored to our old apartments where he belonged. I am not too modest to deny that there is great debate as to what is the greatest of all my triumphs. This achievement tops them all.

The hour was late, all eavesdropping ears were in bed and the weather was exactly the right sort to keep away visitors. I could not have arranged a better moment if I tried. Putting down the manuscript I set about constructing the right words to restore Watson to the last remaining place he belonged but had not ventured. My bed.

Ocelot's Note: This entry is only included because the imp of a young mouse was extremely insistent and this was the only way to keep her quiet.

When Inspector Hopkins arrived his lovely dark hair was wet where the rain had blown under his hat and his beautiful grey eyes were full of concern about his case.  Now Mr Holmes has assured him that he will go to Yoxley with him tomorrow his sweet face is peaceful as he sleeps on the sofa.  He is my hero.

Author's Notes: Jane Moriarty is Professor Moriarty's eldest sister and as such in Mycroft Holmes's services. After the death of two of her siblings - the professor as well as the youngest sister, Mercy - she plays a part in cleaning up [the leftovers of their organisations] of whose extent nor intention little to nothing is known.

Doctor Watson did not need his certificate to see that things were askew with Moriarty. The slate-coloured trenches under her eyes hadn’t lightened up for a year, and she took the Russian documents and train tickets from Holmes without so much as a snarl.
“Take your time in Siberia, Jane. Shoot yourself a bear, or some extremists.”
She glared. Good.
