Let's talk telly in the discussion post for Granada's adaptation of The Copper Beeches. If you haven't seen this episode yet, you can find it at YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, and DVD. Follow me behind the jump for some of my random thoughts and impressions. Please add your own in the comments!

Canon discussion is available in the canon discussion post.

- I love this one. Natasha Richardson, in one of her first performances, is a vibrant Violet Hunter. David Burke's facial expressions as Watson here are delightful. He wears his heart on his sleeve as the doctor, something I adore. Granada's Rucastle ends up being an actor named Joss Ackland. He's even creepier than his canon counterpart, devouring Violet with his eyes and laughing uproariously with a dead bird in his hand. And Jeremy Brett is a thin and nimble Holmes here. The man just looks so sharp in a black Victorian suit.

- This is my favorite moment. I laughed out loud. The sunshine smile, then: "After you."

- How about that madcap ending shot? Brett smirks directly into the camera, breaking the fourth wall, almost to say, "Can you believe I get away with this?"

- I am trying something new here, with some animated gifs. Let me know what you think.
