Hi, everyone! Just wanted to put up a note introducing our new community for 60 for 60!
What is 60 for 60? It's simple and easy. We're working our way through Arthur Conan Doyle's remarkable Sherlock Holmes canon stories (all available online free!), reading one per week (schedule here). On Sundays, we begin posting 60 word ficlets inspired by that week's story. They can be anything, and the wide variety we get in inspirations and directions taken is the best part! In the words of our co-founder,
methylviolet10b, all is welcome, all are welcome. It's no pressure, just play along the weeks you want, and it's all encouragement for our writers. Our goal is always simply more fic. Come have fun with us!
This week we're setting up our community, so please bear with us. In a few days, we'll have posting instructions ready for you for this coming weekend. We're still working out all the settings and decisions. I'm inclined to ask everyone to copy their entire fills in their posts to the community here rather than just add a link, since the ficlets are only 60 words long. Would that be acceptable to everyone? We're going to have ratings tags, so anything with an adult rating will need to go behind an lj cut. Post titles will be important for identifying which case the story is based on and so will require a standard form. Actual titles and summaries for the ficlets are unnecessary. Do these proposed rules sound workable? Please let me know in the comments. Your ideas and input are welcome and encouraged!
I'm extremely excited about our new community here, and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with on Sunday for The Boscombe Valley Mystery! Remember, it's easy. Read the story, write 60 words. That's it! If anyone has questions, please let me know, I'm happy to help. Thank you, everyone!
