Canon Story: The Priory School
Title: Tyres
Author: thesmallhobbit
Rating: G

It should not have surprised me that Holmes had written a monograph on different bicycle tyres.  For now, many years later, he can instantly detect which motor car has passed by purely from the imprint of its tyres.  Holmes has long since abandoned his attempts to educate me in all the subtle differences, disappointed by my complete lack of interest.

Is Watson perhaps "tyred" of Holmes' strange interests..? (This would work so much better if we were all Americans.)

Well, Watson would know - I would imagine with Holmes he's been down that road before...

Good idea, and very Holmes, those car tyres. Though I can't help sympathising with Watson's lack of interest.

I would love to read Holmes' monograph!!! From the brief description of the tyres we get in the story, it does seem like it's more a book on different kinds of patterns cut in rubber than anything else. And obviously, Holmes would know all about car tyres, too, with the advent of the motor car.
