I'd never heard the 'jouney's end' phrase before now and thought it odd. But I guess it's common?

More real estate in the cupboard empire! I guess it's useful to have amorous bolt-holes about town, you know, just in case one is taken, as often appears the case in this 'verse. Nicely done.

The quote is from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. It's not particular common, but has it's uses ;)

Holmes uses that same Shakespeare quote for TWO Yarders (Lestrade in EMPT and Gregson in REDC). Maybe it's an inside joke that the police go to Holmes for aid the way an unfaithful spouse sneaks off to a lover.
