I was thinking more of the occasional scraping and discarding, I take Watson at his word that Holmes is mostly a very good player, and that the Strad thinks it's in good hands.
Distinct parallel with a certain ex army medic, of course.

It certainly is, especially if, like me, one's other fic tends towards the descriptive and relatively long. Drabbles are one thing, 40% reduction makes it very tight indeed.
