“The boy stuck me and then my legs were bad.” Carlo looked behind where his tail still could not wag.

Roy growled. “My master started smelling like an ape. He teased and hurt me too. Humans! I say we leave.”

“Where should we go?”

The wolfhound grinned. “I have an idea. Let’s go down to Dartmoor and terrorize the townsfolk!”

Summary: ‘Big Bob’ Ferguson probably isn’t the only one with a rugby nickname.

A.N.: I possess zero knowledge of rugby. Wikipedia says that scrum, maul, ruck, and sin-bin (really?!) are terms. Feel free to add your own in the comments.

Title: Baby
Author: [livejournal.com profile] scfrankles
Rating: G
Warnings: Past infant death
Author's Notes: “I never get your limits, Watson,” said he. And once again I’ve given Holmes a traumatic childhood…

“I’ll never get your limits, Holmes. You were so good with the baby.” Watson looked thoughtful. “And you have no nephews, no nieces. No friends with children…”

“Your deduction, Doctor?” asked Holmes, looking up.

Watson hesitated. “A third Holmes brother. Who... didn’t survive infancy.”

“A sister.” Holmes returned to his writing. “With two protective older brothers, but who died anyway.”

Jacky sobbed himself to sleep, wishing he could just die.  Father was the only one who had ever loved him, and now father hated him, too.

That horrible woman had never cared a bit for him.

He never understood why he hadn’t been enough, why someone had hurt him and made him so pinched and mean and desperate.  Everything ached.

Sir,

I wish to make use of your publication to contact those of my relatives who remain in the neighbourhood.  I return to London for a vacation at the end of the following month, arriving at the Port of London on the Matilda Briggs and thereafter staying at the Northumberland Hotel, where visitors will be welcome.

Yours,
